1988.1

Four major film associations including Motion Picture and Drama Association, R.O.C. moved out of the space shared with the Film Library and relocated to the “Film Information Center” on Jilin Road. The emptied space was converted into a screening room. During the refurbishing, the Film Library’s collections were moved to the Red House, which the Government Information Office was about to demolish, for temporary storage; and the Film Library staff used the Red House offices for the time being.

HSU Li-kong led a group of filmmakers, including WANG Toon, WAN Jen, CHEN Kun-hou, and LU Hsiao-fen, to Hong Kong for the 1988 Taiwan Cinema event.

The Golden Horse International Film Festival was held at the Marshal Theater for a total of 28 days, screening 63 films from 25 countries, with 4 main programs: “Works of Renown Directors”, “World Cinema Selection”, “Central and South America in Focus” and “Chinese Classics”.
