In regard to research, the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute has been working for decades on research projects related to the film, television, and radio culture and history. The Institute also conducts large-scale oral history collection based on important and experienced audiovisual workers, organizes exhibitions in the form of people and objects, and opens museums for digital display. As a result of the research, several professional publications have been produced, including the oldest and most professional film publication in Taiwan, Film Appreciation Journal (1984-present), the Funscreen Weekly, an online media that responds to current events in film, and various specialized books.
