In contemporary Taiwan, where same-sex marriage has been legal and the LGBTQ+ community is no longer seen as a "problem," queer films have evolved from depicting darkness and repression to showcasing confidence. In late October, as Taipei's streets celebrate the Taiwan LGBT Pride, TFAI invites audiences to revisit Taiwan's queer film history with the premiere of the digitally-restored The Outsiders, offering an opportunity to reflect on the transformation of queer cinema in Taiwan.
