自19世紀末起，蒙大拿州牧人沿襲百年的高山放牧長征，於2003年劃下句點。作為感官民族誌實驗室的開山之作，本片隨行記錄最後的遠行，肩背鏡頭與同步音景深入牧人與羊群之間，模糊了自然與文化、人與動物的界線，共譜不落窠臼的西部輓歌。面對「新西部」雅痞化與土地變遷，導演企圖重拾被人類學界視為陳舊的「搶救式民族誌」，在直視傳統消亡的同時，摒棄居高臨下的浪漫化想像與懷舊濫情，回歸最純粹的體感與聲景，凝縮極具詩意且真實深刻的生命面貌。

As a foundational work of the Sensory Ethnography Lab, Sweetgrass follows the final sheep drive through Montana's mountains, marking the end of a century-old tradition. With shoulder-mounted cameras and immersive soundscapes, the film dissolves boundaries between human and animal, nature and culture in an unsentimental Western elegy. Prompted by the gentrification of the Rockies, the directors re-engage with "salvage ethnography," capturing a vanishing world through pure sensory experience while avoiding nostalgic romanticism.
