青年阿里陪伴年邁病重的父親進城求醫，卻因貧困被迫流落街頭。聰明伶俐的阿里在想辦法賺錢與求醫過程中，快速適應和過去截然不同的都市生存法則。

執導《母牛》、《令人討厭的郵差的一生》等片的伊朗新浪潮大將達里希梅赫朱伊，繼《母牛》後二度改編小說家高蘭侯賽因薩迪之作，於1974年拍攝完成。直白且震撼人心的社會批判內容，不但遭到醫療界的大力撻伐，也使得本片無法正式上映，至1977年才設法於設拉子藝術節首映與國際影展放映，並隨著1979年伊朗革命後，遭到雪藏近半世紀，至今才在法國電資館支助下，尋獲珍貴拷貝並獲得修復。

Ali accompanies his ailing father to the city for medical treatment, but poverty soon leaves them stranded on the streets. As he struggles to survive and find a way forward, Ali gradually abandons his moral bearings as he begins to profit from other people's blood. Completed in 1974, Dariush Mehrjui's second adaptation of Gholam-Hossein Saedi was banned for its powerful social critique and only premiered in 1977 and suppressed after the Iranian Revolution.
