白領夫妻保羅和海倫開車途中，貌似妓女的女子突然衝上來，拍著車窗向他們求救。後方的小混混快速追上，女子被毆打，昏迷倒地。保羅怕惹上麻煩，趕緊離開現場，並阻止海倫叫救護車。事後海倫心懷愧疚，決定拋家棄子前往醫院，照顧暫時癱瘓的女子直到康復。不料，那些小混混赫然現身醫院，想趁人之危，逼女子簽一份神秘合約，瞬間將良家婦女海倫捲入一場攸關性命、金錢和感情的人生賭注。

Casually driving through the streets one evening, a bourgeois couple, Paul and Hélène, sees a prostitute being chased and beaten down by abusive men. Anxious to stay away from trouble, Paul locks out the prostitute and stops Hélène from calling an ambulance. Gnawed by guilt, Hélène decides to leave work and family responsibilities to nurse the prostitute back to health. As the prostitute gradually regains mobility and speech, she reveals her true identity, followed by a mind-blowing plan that would change everyone's lives.
