曾經，傳奇劇團「拱樂社」主宰了大半台灣的影劇市場，版圖橫跨戲曲、電影與學校教育，建立起巍峨的娛樂王國，卻在時代轉身之際，悄然隱沒。透過許秀年等資深演員的回望，此片在迷霧中探尋著創辦人陳澄三的藝術夢想，並以戲班的個人生命史，拼湊已然沉寂的王國身影。

陳澄三與何基明的合作，成功將歌仔戲轉譯為35mm膠卷影像，開創台語片高峰，亦確立了拱樂社在影劇史的先行地位。第一手訪談、檔案靜照、戲院廢墟的再訪與成員重聚，多元素材建構出深具厚度的記憶檔案。也揭示了台語影劇文化如何在電視崛起、社會變遷與不利的政治夾縫中奮力生存，為台語片發展脈絡留下重要線索。

The legendary Gongle Troupe once dominated the Taiwanese entertainment market, with a realm spanning across Taiwanese opera (Gezaixi), cinema, and formal education. Yet, as the era shifted, this towering empire quietly faded away. Through the retrospective gaze of veteran actors such as Hsu Hsiu-nien, this film searches for the artistic dreams of founder Chen Cheng-san amidst the mist of history, piecing together the silhouette of a now-silent kingdom through the personal life histories of its members and rare archival footage that captures the peak of the Taiyupian era.
