老實膽小的劉文傑長年任人捉弄，在心儀對象面前更是抬不起頭。某日，一名持槍瘋漢闖入，將他平庸的日常逼到命懸一線的邊緣。絕望之際，他握緊阿嬤交付的「祖傳護身符」，他真能獲神力加持，翻身成為英雄嗎？

本片由何基明之弟何錂明執導，其早年赴日受訓，熟稔攝影與沖印，曾任華興技術總管。本片為首部「新藝綜合體」（CinemaScope）寬銀幕的台語片，華興資源有限下仍追求技術升級。有別於先前台語片的苦情，率先以喜劇面向市場。女主角何玉華為華興所培育，走紅影壇並跨足國語片與電視。片中不時出現偉士牌、相機、黑膠唱機等摩登物件，也映照1950年代末城市化變遷。此片見證華興於人才、技術投資與類型開拓上的企圖。

The honest and timid Liu Wen-jie is a frequent target of pranks and feels unable to hold his head high in front of his crush, Shu-hua. His mundane life is pushed to a precarious edge when an armed madman suddenly intrudes. In a moment of desperation, an "ancestral talisman" bestowed by his grandmother grants Wen-jie a sudden surge of divine courage, allowing him to capture the criminal single-handedly. Is it a true divine manifestation, or does the talisman hold a different secret? Behind the unexpected truth lies an absurd turning point regarding the nature of fear and inner courage.
