成長於日本的林雪子自幼喪父，與母相依為命，靠台灣恩人資助長大。1970年日本大阪「萬國博覽會」熱鬧開展，她擔任中華民國館接待員，借機尋找恩人；與男友奔走大阪、神戶、奈良、北海道，同時穿梭各國場館，苦苦追尋。滿心想報答恩情的雪子，能如願以償嗎？

以1970年大阪世博為背景，由中影總經理龔弘發起拍攝計畫，邀台日巨星翁倩玉擔綱女主角，以大量歌舞與明星魅力軟化政宣意圖。導演廖祥雄大量使用追蹤鏡頭，結合紀錄與劇情兩種形式，隨角色穿梭各國場館，凸顯冷戰自由陣營與中華民國定位；亦呼應中影由「健康寫實」轉向「健康綜藝」的路線。

Raised in Japan after her father's death, Hsueh-tzu Lin finishes university thanks to a Taiwanese benefactor she never met. During Expo '70 in Osaka, she becomes a hostess at the Republic of China Pavilion and seizes the chance to find her patron. With her boyfriend and friends, she searches pavilions and cities—Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Hokkaido—following clues that vanish as they appear. Driven by gratitude, she keeps chasing a face from the past. Will she ever reach it?
