武功高強的唐龍受朋友所託，遠赴歐洲協助一家餐館。唐龍在餐館內遇上黑幫搗亂，威迫餐館老闆簽合約讓出餐館，並恥笑中國拳術，唐龍大怒之下出手把洋人打得抱頭鼠竄。經此挫折，黑幫後台老闆大為震怒，僱職業殺手及神槍手展開暗殺，可惜一一事敗；最後唯有請來美國的國際空手道冠軍，與唐龍決一死戰。

不同於前兩部作品強調中華民族韌性，本片由李小龍自導自演，利用第三地的文化差異，傳遞他的功夫哲學和藝術。故事發生在義大利羅馬，劇情高潮更以羅馬競技場為舞台，代表東方和西方的武者彼此較勁，卻無關仇恨，展現一場公平和尊重的比武。

Tang Lung arrives in Rome to help Chen Ching-hua, a friend of his family, who has been constantly threatened by local gangsters seeking to take over her restaurant. Soon after Tang’s arrival, he witnesses the gangsters forcing Chen to sign over the deed while mocking the Chinese style of fighting. With outstanding kung fu, Tang fights off the gangsters one after the other, protecting the restaurant and its employees. Soon, Tang attracts the attention of the gang leader, who sets him up with a deadly match.
