四個男孩為了親眼一見博物館中令人著迷的展品，決定展開時光之旅。途中不僅見到長毛象，更隨著周遭景觀變遷，遇見史前動植物。他們在探險日誌詳實記錄所見所聞，包括早期人類繪有壁畫的洞穴，各種蘚苔與叢林，更目睹恐龍激烈交鋒！從冰河時期，一直到志留紀的海洋，《史前探險記》恍如一本百科全書，勾勒出最生動的地球歷史。

為精確描繪的絕種生物形象，卡雷爾茲曼研究了大量動物的行為動作，透過觀察現代大象，繪製了長毛象的動作圖表。動畫師需多次進行攝影測試，並運用模型與實景拍攝，才能重現動物的自然動態。

Four boys, inspired by the discovery of a fossilized trilobite and their desire to see the museum exhibits that fascinated them firsthand, decide to embark on a journey through time. Along the way, they not only encounter mammoths but also prehistoric plants and animals as the landscape around them gradually changes. From the Ice Age to the Silurian seas, Journey to the Beginning of Time serves as an encyclopedic and vivid portrayal of Earth's history that captivates audiences of all ages.
