16歲少女的母親離世、父親酗酒，她被送往兒少收容機構後脫逃，卻又輾轉回到原點。孤兒院的封閉體制、小團體霸凌，令她備感孤立；然而，在與院內孩童及同儕的親暱互動中，她逐漸尋獲共鳴與同理，並與兩名性格與背景迥異的男孩萌生曖昧情愫。青春愁雲罩頂，眉頭深鎖的她，最終能否綻放笑顏？

全片於愛沙尼亞真實孤兒院取景，導演啟用多名素人演員，在紀錄片基調中運用大量手持及特寫鏡頭，捕捉少女幽微的情緒流轉。父執輩的冷漠失能、弱勢青少年的迷惘不安，折射晚期蘇聯體制的集體幻滅與個體疏離，慘淡青春看似被鐵幕壓抑，影像底層暗湧的躁動氛圍，卻深刻流露青年世代對自由的嚮往。

16-year-old Mari, neglected by her alcoholic father after her mother's death, is placed in an orphanage she tries in vain to escape. Sensitive and withdrawn, she struggles with the rough behavior of the other children but gradually begins to see their shared pain. The film presents a rare, realist portrait of Soviet society's collective control and callous neglect of its vulnerable youth.
