一頭草食性雌性慈母龍發現河川中有一顆被遺棄的恐龍蛋，竟意外孵出一隻肉食性的霸王龍，慈母龍仍願意將牠養大，並取名為哈特。某日因一件意外事件，哈特發現自己其實不是草食性恐龍，在難以承受的刺激之下，離開家人獨自生活。

長大後的哈特過著肉食性恐龍天生的獵狩生活，一天牠在平地上看到一個剛破殼而出的甲龍寶寶，正想吃掉牠時，卻被寶寶當成親生父親，從此便寸步不離地黏在哈特身上。雖然無奈，但哈特勉為其難暫時充當甲龍寶寶的父親，並在過程中逐漸產生親密的感情，過著一邊想吃掉甲龍寶寶，一邊又擔心牠被其他霸王龍發現的奇怪父子生活。

Brought up by a herbivorous dinosaur, Heart spent his childhood believing he was one of the herd, until an accident revealed his true nature as a Tyrannosaurus. Shocked, he impulsively leaves his family and roams the plains as a notorious lone ranger. One day, Heart discovers a baby Ankylosaurus who believes Heart is his father. From then on, the little herbivore is never seen without his carnivorous guardian, and a strange family bond develops between them.
