32歲的混混黃阿狗，來到相士口中的人生抉擇關口：要嘛發財，要嘛發愁。他先選擇跟黑道團伙走私汽車到廣東，結果搶劫運鈔車失敗，全軍覆沒。第二個選擇是轟轟烈烈大幹一場，到台灣執行殺人任務，歷經多番波折和血拼，終於登上一個字頭（幫派）的寶座。

銀河映像1996年成立的的創業作品，在敘事、意念、命題、影像上都獨樹一幟，為日後銀河映像這個「字頭」奠下強烈且鮮明的風格。本片大量使用廣角鏡和長鏡頭，破格的影像先聲奪人，加上韋家輝筆下「性格決定選擇，選擇影響命運」的跳脫意念，炮製出一種混亂的無政府狀態，可謂對回歸前的香港下了一個特別的註腳。

At thirty-two, a petty thug stands at a crossroads foretold by a fortune teller: fortune or ruin. His first choice—smuggling cars to Guangdong—ends in disaster when a botched heist wipes out the crew. The second—carrying out a hit in Taichung with a friend—sees him bumble through bloodshed and chaos to rise as a gang leader. With wide angles, long takes, and a fatalistic screenplay, this early Milkyway Image production forges its anarchic, genre-defying voice—a chaotic footnote to pre-handover Hong Kong.
