曾是柔道高手的司徒寶，淪為嗜賭酗酒的歌廳經理兼樂隊領班。應屆柔道冠軍東尼慕名找他挑戰，昔日宿敵李亞岡也為未完比賽現身；年邁老師傅帶著智能障礙兒子上門，請求愛徒出山救道場；懷抱歌星夢的台灣女子小夢也前來應徵。飽受眼疾困擾的司徒寶視力逐漸衰退，士氣低落，但看到眾人為理想拼博，快將目盲的他反而開了心眼，重燃柔道魂，決心在光明消失前與每位對手較量。

拍攝於2003年香港飽受SARS疫情衝擊之時，加上一連串社會事件，香港社會陷入前所未有的低氣壓氛圍。杜琪峯回想起1970年代的香港人奮發堅靭的生命力和自信心，決定放下他最擅長的警匪槍戰，改以柔道運動來言志和抒發情懷，勉勵香港自強不息。

A once-great judo fighter is now a bitter, hard-drinking nightclub manager losing his sight to illness. A young champion arrives to challenge him, while an old rival returns for one final match. As his vision fades, hope is reignited by others who still fight for dreams. Before blindness consumes him, he decides to face each opponent again. Shot during Hong Kong's 2003 SARS crisis, this deeply personal work transforms judo into a quiet metaphor for resilience and inner strength, reflecting on a city's bruised yet unbroken will.
