警員王國柱值班時連人帶槍失蹤於樹林之中，同行的同僚高志偉則安然無恙，此後接二連三出現牽涉該失槍的搶案。警方茫無頭緒，決定請教退役警探陳桂彬。被喻為「神探」的陳桂彬擁有天賦異稟的辦案能力，卻因辧案方法詭異，被外界視為精神異常。當他揪出真兇，準備通報警方，自身性命也危在旦夕。

韋家輝奇詭的創意，寫出天才與瘋子的一線之差，將「神探」撇除一般的科學和邏輯查案方式，令警匪類型再創新猷。杜琪峯高超的場面調度能力，將多重人格影像化，最後結局的槍戰戲，警與匪共處幽暗窘迫的室內空間，透過多面鏡子反映多重虛幻的心魔，影像凌厲，別具一格。

During a routine patrol, a police officer vanishes along with his service weapon in a remote woodland, while his colleague emerges unharmed. A series of armed robberies linked to the missing gun soon follows. After a fruitless investigation, a detective turns to a retired superior who is renowned for an uncanny ability to perceive inner demons for guidance. The suspect is seen fractured into seven personified vices, leading to a grim conclusion. Just as the truth is about to be revealed, danger strikes again.
