來自北京的太極拳師傅朱老先生，退休後被兒子接到美國生活。然而，語言不通與生活習慣等文化差異，使他與美國媳婦衝突不斷。某日，朱老在因緣際會下讀懂了兒子的心思，決定離家到唐人街餐廳打工謀生，卻意外遭老闆羞辱。不過他可不是省油的燈，憑藉太極拳推手與深厚內功，擊退一群廚房壯漢與流氓。

Master Chu, a Tai Chi instructor from Beijing, moves to the U.S. after retiring, brought over by his son. However, cultural differences and language barriers cause constant conflicts with his American daughter-in-law. One day, realizing his son's struggles, he leaves home and takes a job at a Chinatown restaurant, only to be humiliated by the owner. But Chu is no pushover—using Tai Chi push hands and deep internal strength, he defeats a gang of thugs.
