Adapted from Amy Tan's acclaimed 1989 novel, the film follows four young Chinese American women and their mothers as they navigate memories of sacrifice, love, and resilience. After June's mother passes away, her three "aunties" from the Joy Luck Club reunite to reflect on their journeys—from war-torn China to the struggles of immigrant life in America—revealing the bonds and generational conflicts that shape mother-daughter relationships across cultures.
