南北韓邊界的共同警戒區內兩名北韓士兵某夜慘死槍下，案情撲朔迷離。中立國監察委員會的韓裔少校蘇菲介入調查，南北雙方卻不約而同地保持沉默。蘇菲反覆推敲後赫然發現，真相或許源自雙方卸除心防後共度的那些夜晚，以及彼此想守護的秘密情誼。

改編自朴尚淵小說《DMZ》，為朴贊郁早期突破之作。有別於後來「復仇三部曲」的驚世駭俗，聚焦南北韓士兵的心理糾結，以今昔跳剪抽絲剝繭，在層層情節反轉中形塑作者風格。當人民因國族仇恨而對立，兄弟之情卻能跨越無形的北緯 38 度線，以片中那幀看似不經意的珍貴合影，傳遞對和平共存的深切渴望。

Sergeant Lee Soo-hyeok is saved by North Korean soldiers after stepping on a mine in the Demilitarized Zone, forming a close bond with them. However, their secret meetings are discovered, leading to a tragic confrontation where Lee's North Korean friends are killed. Lee is found wounded at the scene, and Major Sophie Jang is sent to investigate the truth behind the deadly incident in the Joint Security Area.
