1958 年日本全面實施「賣春防止法」，街頭流鶯被迫入住收容所，來自白菊婦女宿舍的邦子完成感化教育後，期盼早日自力更生，無奈雇主的歧視、昔日皮條客的威脅，讓這條通往新生的道路成為荊棘滿佈的人性修羅場。受盡世人欺凌的邦子，能否覓得真正的自由？

本片改編自女作家梁雅子小說《即使前方有路》，再度邀來田中澄江編劇，看似重演溝口健二《夜之女》的受難娼婦敘事，卻擺脫男導演對性工作者的臉譜化描寫，以不帶批判和羞恥的同理目光，淋漓剖析女性社群的內在多樣性，女主角不僅對性工作本質開啟前衛辯證，更用坦蕩無畏的身體，昂揚回擊父權社會的虛偽和暴力。

Examining the aftermath of Japan's enforcement of anti-prostitution law in 1958, the film centers on Kuniko, a former sex worker striving to rebuild her life after her release from a women's reformatory. Tanaka Kinuyo collaborates once again with screenwriter Tanaka Sumie and boldly offers an empathetic portrait of a diverse community of social outcasts, addressing the discrimination they endure and the autonomy they fervently seek.
