颱風來襲，雨過天晴，倉田濱的居民們卻在沙灘上發現一顆綺麗巨蛋。消息逐漸傳開，每朝報社記者前去採訪，而快樂集團則斥資將巨蛋占為己有。這顆必須歸還給摩斯拉的幼蛋一旦孵化，勢必釀成大災，但即便守護者小美人現身乞求，也無法動搖資本家的貪婪。此時哥吉拉突然現身，摩斯拉成為擊敗大恐龍的唯一希望，但作為橋樑的小美人卻已對人類心灰意冷......。

小美人、雙胞胎幼蟲、巨蛾形象，皆是摩斯拉這隻鮮豔萌獸出場時不可或缺的三大元素。傳說中，當摩斯拉使出鱗粉絕招攻擊時，便是其將死之際，牠將再以幼蟲傳承使命，羽化成下一代傳奇。

A giant egg is found floating on the shores of Kurata Coast after a typhoon. Thirsty for profits, Happy Enterprises buys the egg into possession and refuses to return it when Shobijin appears, warning them of mass destruction if Mothra's egg hatches. Disappointed, Shobijin retreats, leaving the villagers of Kurata Coast with little to no hope that Mothra will come to their rescue against Godzilla.
