1985年起，馬尼拉歌德學院與在地機構合作開設影像工作坊，邀請德國創作者為講師，針對技術操作與創作思維舉辦免費課程，影響當地實驗影像場景甚鉅，多位菲國知名影像創作者如拉夫．迪亞茲、羅克斯李都曾為學員。菲律賓以外，亞洲多國歌德學院亦舉辦類似工作坊。本節目以「城市地景」為軸，輯成1980年代後期至1990年代早期的泰國、南韓、菲律賓、香港等地作品，延伸爬梳此跨國合作的歷史脈落與後續影響。
Manila-based artist-researcher Merv ESPINA is the co-curator of the focus programme on Philippine documentaries at TIDF 2022. He has been researching the history of the film workshops that the Goethe-Institut organized, predominantly in the Global South, from the mid-1980’s onwards. As an extended program of TIDF’s focus on the Philippine moving images, this screening includes selected works produced by these workshops between the mid-1980’s and early-1990’s.

原文片名的「Farang」為泰文對歐美白人的指稱。曼谷一夜間，絢爛煙花與槍火尖叫共存。從黑夜過渡到白日，外國旅客穿梭於皇宮古寺與船家攤市，表裡衝突，自問自疑，影像碎片組成一首城市變奏曲。本片完成於1992年，同年泰國發生民主運動「黑色五月事件」。
