臺南安平港的青春女子秀琴，與船隻拋錨而短期靠岸的荷蘭人船醫達利相戀，進而未婚懷孕。然而達利因為居留過久而被迫離臺，他承諾不久之後必將回來安平港，與她結婚。孰料，他一去不返，從此音訊全無；不久，秀琴生下了紅髮混血女兒阿金，片中眼看她就要重蹈母親的命運，究竟她們的情郎是否會回來安平港呢？

Siu-khim, a young girl living in Anping Port, falls in love with a Dutch ship's doctor, Daley, and gets pregnant. But Daley has to leave Taiwan. He promises he will return but she hears nothing from him. She gives birth to Kim, a baby girl with red hair, unique in the local community. Years later, Siu-khim dies of an illness. Kim is raised by her grandfather, becoming a beauty. Now grown, she meets Tsi-kiong, a medical student. They fall in love but he is about to study medicine abroad - where his teacher turns out to be Daley.
