文德和桂枝私下幽會相戀。英俊的文德極富女人緣，上門追求的女子絡繹不絕，寡父阿狗極力防堵兒子被勾引；桂枝嬌俏外向，其寡母亦嚴格禁止她自由戀愛。戀情曝光後，阿狗答應上門提親。提親當日，阿狗發現桂枝母親竟是多年前拋棄自己嫁別人的那個她，這下親家反變冤家，二人決定私奔相愛，但現實的相處遠比想像充滿困難。

A young couple, Bun-tik and Kui-ki, are in love but their parents are determined to control their destinies. When the couple try to meet, Bun-tik's widowed father A-kau intervenes, but Kui-ki begs him and he agrees to a marriage. However, when he realizes Kui-ki's mother is the woman who abandoned him years before, he refuses the marriage. Bun-tik and Kui-ki elope together, but life alone proves cruel and they begin to miss their homes.
