三十年代，石塘咀名妓如花（梅艷芳飾）與富家子弟十二少陳振邦（張國榮飾） 相戀，可惜二人婚事遭陳家反對，振邦更被逐出家門。二人遂私訂終身，但敵不過貧窮折磨，最後相約吞鴉片殉情。如花在陰間久候不見振邦，乘七日還陽之期到陽間尋覓，怎料卻來到1987 年，幸運遇上熱心人永定（萬梓良飾）和其女友楚娟（朱寶意飾），二人協助登報尋找十二少，只是萬萬沒想到，香港早已人事全非，再真摯的愛情，也隨著時間慢慢淡去……

Leslie Cheung as Chen, the son of a wealthy family, who defiantly falls head over heels in love with prostitute Fleur (Anita Mui) in the 1930’s. Disowned and despised, the hopeless couple makes a suicide pact – but Chen finds himself unable to carry through with it. Fleur’s pining spirit returns to the thriving Hong Kong 50 years later……
