天下藥廠推出「健美素」，經理袁德安招考「廣告美人」造勢。祕書楊耀天之女藍絲瞞著父親參加甄選，請男友王文輝協助。兩人察覺袁德安別有企圖，暗中阻撓，藍絲仍晉級；熱鬧選美背後，危險正逐步逼近。

台語片與廈語片因語言相近，自五〇年代初便共享東南亞市場。本片承接李臨秋投資《桃花鄉》後的新興廈語片風潮，在香港製作，先於新加坡首映，隔年進入台灣時改名《餓狗想食豬肝骨》，以更貼近當地觀眾的片名與宣傳重新定位。莊雪芳此前已憑《歌女白蘭花》及插曲〈給我親一個〉紅遍星馬與台灣；她在片中的歌唱、時裝與明快肢體，將選美、廣告與都市消費化為鮮明的節奏，也賦予影片摩登、大膽而耳目一新的氣息。

To promote its new health tonic, a pharmaceutical company launches a search for an "advertising beauty." Lan-si enters in secret with the help of her boyfriend, but they soon discover that the company president has ulterior motives. Produced in Hong Kong and first released in Singapore, the film reflects an Amoy-dialect cinema shaped by stars, songs, advertising, and urban consumption. Zhuang Xuefang's singing, fashionable costumes, and lively performance turn the beauty contest into a display of modernity, commerce, and danger.
