Set in 1970s Glasgow at Christmas, the film follows a young girl on a festive outing with her father. Before a gathering at the local pub, the arrival of another woman and her children unravels a secret he has been keeping. As the night deepens, holiday wonder curdles into confusion and jealousy, revealing the delicate moment a child first senses something she cannot yet comprehend.

Glasgow, mid-1970s. Haunted by a secret, 12-year-old James drifts through a dysfunctional family life, increasingly estranged and burdened by a guilt that shadows his daily existence. Drawn to the city's derelict canal banks, he forms tentative bonds with a vulnerable teenage girl and a boy of disarming innocence. Set against the backdrop of a historic garbage strike, the film traces a boyhood shaped by deprivation, remorse, and fleeting moments of wonder.
