狐狸先生年輕時以偷竊農場家禽維生，在一次失手後，妻子要求牠金盆洗手。如今，牠為報社寫稿，貧窮又無聊，時常懷念當年自由刺激的犯罪生活。然而，牠抵擋不住本能的誘惑，瞞著妻子前往三個農場偷了個遍，卻被農夫打掉了尾巴。自此之後，農夫們為斷絕狐狸的後路，將牠們的家夷為平地，還在洞口埋伏。狐狸先生一家只好往地底下挖洞逃命，所有的動物都跟著遭殃。但是無法回到地面，大家肚子又好餓，這時狐狸先生想到了一個妙計！

After an unfortunate incident, Mr Fox's farm raiding days were over. Since then, he promised his wife to keep away from farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean. Yet years of mundane routines failed to diminish Mr Fox's animal instincts, and the revival of his old ways endangers the whole animal community. When the farmers force Mr Fox and company deep underground, he has to resort to his natural craftiness to rise above the opposition.
