男子因爆炸意外嚴重毀容後，深陷對自我身份的迷惘，與妻子的情感也瀕臨崩解。在醫師協助下，他開始戴上仿真面具以陌生男子的臉孔示人，還私自租下公寓，在面具穿脫間打造雙重人生，甚至嘗試用新身分引誘妻子出軌。同時，一名長崎原爆倖存的毀容少女憂心戰爭再起，投入兄長懷抱尋求溫暖，卻難逃死亡陰影。

勅使河原宏再度改編安部公房小說，以詭譎的超現實影像、冷冽的都市空間，揉合武滿徹實驗性的悚慄配樂，巧妙構築一則關於偽裝、欲望與自我疏離的當代寓言。去年底逝世的仲代達矢在片中活用肢體和聲線，精湛詮釋男子迷失於假面與自我之間的不安靈魂。

A man disfigured in a factory accident receives a lifelike mask that allows him to adopt a second identity. Slipping between faces, he begins to test the boundaries of morality, intimacy, and trust—especially with his own wife, whom he approaches as a stranger. Woven alongside the story of a young woman scarred by the Nagasaki bombing, the film probes how appearance shapes the self, and how easily identity fractures under modern anxieties.
