改編自保加利亞作家安吉爾瓦根斯坦的真實經歷，來自東德共產陣營的導演，卻能細膩刻劃歷史大敘事下的個人視角，警惕坐視暴行發生的平庸之惡。全片在優美攝影、配樂襯托下，以環形敘事串接首尾，宛如東德版《辛德勒的名單》，為歷史傷痕注入詩意感性，當年在坎城影展擊敗楚浮《四百擊》、雷奈《廣島之戀》等經典，拿下僅次於金棕櫚大獎的評審團特別獎。

On a rainy night in 1943, Bulgarian Jews board a train to Auschwitz. One woman keeps looking back, as if waiting for someone. A German officer arrives too late, watching the train vanish. On the ground, he finds a Star of David—marking a love that couldn't cross the lines of war and identity. Based on Angel Wagenstein's experiences, Stars reflects on love and moral struggle in wartime. With poetic visuals and music, it highlights both the cruelty of history and moments of human beauty within it.
