家境富裕的秋薇招贅夫婿守義，婚姻美滿。秋薇久別重逢同窗老友麗雲，發現她遇人不淑，為扶養兒子落入風塵。秋薇十分照顧麗雲，未料她竟是守義多年前的舊情人。麗雲走避，風波卻起。雖是戀人歷經波折而後團圓的傳統通俗劇，但導演卻提出三角戀悲情之外的不同選擇。

The affluent Tshiu-bi and her husband Siu-gi share a harmonious, childless marriage. When Tshiu-bi realizes her friend, Le-hun, a single mother, is compelled to work in a nightclub to support her son, she attempts to help. Unbeknownst to her, Le-hun and Siu-gi were once lovers. Diverging from conventional melodramas, the film explores female consciousness and the reciprocal solidarity between women.
