琉球沙灘上，夕陽西下時，落魄中年台籍牧師景文，情不自禁地用畫筆繪下日籍少女靜子的看海倩影，並將畫作送給了她。靜子憧憬自由戀愛，不願遵從父母心願嫁給當地富家子弟。她勇敢奔向景文的懷抱，殊不知他們之間的阻礙，除了年齡、身份及他人目光，還有深埋在景文心中，一道積累多年、源於二戰結束時在台日人強制遣返的情感創傷......。

When the sun sets over the horizon, on the beach in Okinawa, a penniless middle-aged Taiwanese priest Ching-wen cannot help but sketch a Japanese young woman Shizuko who is looking at the ocean, and sends her the portrait afterwards. Yearning for a marriage on the basis of romantic love, Shizuko refuses to marry into a rich family as her parents wish, but rather, she bravely falls in love with Ching-wen. However, there is one more obstacle which has been deeply rooted in Ching-wen' s past.
