本片是韓國影史上最早直面光州事件的作品之一，改編自女作家崔允 1988 年的中篇小說，揉雜紀實檔案、手繪動畫，並將多線時序打散，再現女主角的跳躍思緒和記憶黑洞。芳華 16 歲的李貞賢以驚人的方法演技詮釋受創少女，多幕赤裸的暴力場景在當年引發影評抨擊，但張善宇不僅描繪史實，更欲挖掘韓國社會內在的深層暴力及弱弱相殘，結局令人鼻酸不已。

The first mature attempt to tackle the 1980 Gwangju Massacre, the film follows a mentally disturbed girl searching for her brother, and her encounter with a violent laborer. Despite his efforts to rid himself of her through insults, abuse, and rape, she persists. Interspersed with animated flashbacks, the story reveals the tragic deaths in her family, as well as her subsequent mental breakdown against the backdrop of the nation's trauma.
