1950 年韓戰爆發，美國將軍麥克阿瑟率領聯合國軍隊登陸仁川，經過激烈交鋒，負傷撤守的韓國國軍、朝鮮人民軍、美軍飛行員不約而同在東莫村狹路相逢，頓時氣氛劍拔弩張，一旦擦槍走火，便是你死我活。然東莫村宛如與世隔絕的世外桃源，村民不諳外界事，甚至不知槍砲彈藥為何物，他們的善良淳樸撫慰了士兵疲憊的心，原本相互猜忌的三方人馬，最終懷抱著共同信念──誓死捍衛東莫村。

久石讓跨刀配樂，搭配慢鏡頭特效，勾勒逸出日常的奇幻筆觸。本片抱持反戰的人道主義，質問戰爭的意義，褪下軍服，你我其實並無異同。村民們欣賞著遠處的熠熠火光，士兵們希冀落下的不是砲彈，而是玉米炸成的一顆顆爆米花。

In September 1950, a U.S. fighter pilot crash-lands near the secluded village of Dongmakgol, where the locals care for him. Soon, communist soldiers and anti-communist troops also take refuge in the village. Despite their opposing sides in the war, they unite to fight a wild boar and find unexpected peace. However, the arrival of American forces to rescue the pilot brings the harshest realities of war to the once tranquil village.
