俄羅斯哥薩克軍隊及他們所飼養的貓，摧毀了猶太老鼠偉福一家所居住的城鎮，迫使他們移民到「沒有貓」的理想國度：美國。在航行中，偉福因暴風雨從船上掉到海裡，與家人失散後漂浮到美國。絲毫不畏懼陌生環境，偉福一心一意尋找家人的線索。紐約街頭龍蛇混雜，有熱心助人的好人、不懷好意的騙子，也有讓所有老鼠大驚失色的存在──貓！

After their village is attacked by an army of cats, Fievel and his family migrate to the United States of America, a country they believe has no cats. As their ship sails, a thunderstorm hurls Fievel into the sea, leaving his parents in despair of losing their son. Eventually, Fievel drifts to New York, and searches for his family amidst friends, foes and cats!
