In this campy science-fiction film, a killer robot modeled after Hong Kong mob boss's girlfriend Maria, played by Sally Yeh, undergoes a transformation when reprogrammed by the police. As an instrument of destruction, the cyborg confronts her human counterpart in a battle of desires for annihilation. Starring Tony Leung Chiu-wai as a bumbling reporter and featuring Tsui Hark in a rare acting role, the film explores themes of cyborg identity and the human/machine double.
