No Sex Last Night is an autobiographical account of a road trip across America made by French and American artists Sophie Calle and Greg Shephard. Equipped with video cameras, the artists recorded every moment of their journey from New York to California in Shepard's ailing Cadillac. The trip begins with Calle's symbolic burial of her friend Hervé (the late French author Hervé Guibert, to whom the film is dedicated), continues through the deep South, and culminates in a Las Vegas drive-through wedding chapel. Alternating between video and sequences of still images, voice-overs and dialogue in both French and English, the film deftly weaves together the desires, fears, and resentments within the complex relationship of the artists.
