1980 年 10 月，香港為阻絕大量的中國偷渡客，取消寬鬆的邊境政策，改採逮捕即遣返的嚴格措施。此片描述趁著寬限期逃離中國，前往香港淘金者的故事。偷渡者俗稱人蛇，甫抵邊境即被人口販子「打蛇」，藉以向香港親友索討贖金。他們遭遇令人髮指的凌辱，為踏上鑽石山付出昂貴的代價，這次他們該如何逃離？

牟敦芾於七〇年代前往香港發展，專拍爭議作品。尺度大膽，無懼性愛、暴力、虐待等元素，人稱「禽獸導演」。《打蛇》中的大量施虐及裸露的場面更是招致撻伐，被視為剝削人性之作。但亦有論者為其辯稱，影片呈現的只是離你我生存經驗太遠，難以想像的真相而已。

In October 1980, Hong Kong adopted strict measures for the arrest and repatriation of Chinese illegal immigrants in order to stop the influx. This film depicts the story of those who took advantage of the grace period to escape from China and go to Hong Kong in search of a livelihood. Commonly known as "human snakes", these illegal immigrants are "snaked" (abducted) as soon as they arrive at the border. Human traffickers then demand ransom from their relatives in Hong Kong. Subjected to horrendous abuse after paying a high price to travel to Diamond Hill, how will they escape?
