不滿升學制度的葉天林，休學在餐廳駐唱，葉天林的好友唐風，為了資助育幼院搬遷拚命賺錢，唐風的女友蘇琪主持《早安台北》節目──三個在現實與理想的衝撞中歷練、感情糾葛的年輕男女，一夕之間因一場車禍而有了生命轉變……

本片集聚當時電影菁英，除男女主角鍾鎮濤與林鳳嬌外，原著小野、編劇兼副導演侯孝賢、攝影陳坤厚等，讓李行突破舊有的電影風格，完成一幅洋溢著青春悲喜的城市風情畫。

The film depicts a group of young people in Taipei, two men and one woman, who fight hard to realizing their dreams under harsh reality. They share stories with laughter and tears until an accident changes their lives afterwards.

The story is based on Xiao Ye's idea; the screenplay is written by Hou Hsiao Hsien. Director Lee Hsing has made a breakthrough in making this film and accomplished a fascinating work on the theme of youth.
