1995 年 3 月 20 日，奧姆真理教在東京地鐵施放沙林毒氣，造成多人傷亡，引起日本社會恐慌，傳播媒體對奧姆真理教的嚴酷批判亦自此展開。曾受雇於電視節目製作公司的導演，有感於自身見聞與組織要求的報導框架間存在落差，決定拿起家用 DV 轉任獨立導演，貼身記錄奧姆真理教宣傳部副部長荒木浩的生活，以及信徒們與當時大眾的互動遭遇。

導演引領觀眾進入信徒們的日常，逐漸理解這些信徒的行為信念與價值體系。這群被視為邪教異端的信徒，只求遁世獨立，卻意外被輿論洪流吞沒的生命經驗，竟具體反照出日本社會的集體精神狀態。

On March 20th, 1995, Aum Shinrikyo's release of sarin gas in the Tokyo subway led to widespread panic and casualties, triggering intense media criticism. Mori Tatsuya, the director, disenchanted with mainstream reporting, transitions to independent filmmaking. With a home video camera, he meticulously chronicles the life of Hiroshi Araki, the vice minister of Aum Shinrikyo's propaganda department, and the dynamics between the group's followers and the general public during that period.
