Liang, married for nine years with a son and daughter, leads a seemingly perfect life with her successful husband, Wei-yeh. However, her fears of losing it all are confirmed when she reunites with her childhood friend, Anping, and learns that Wei-yeh is having an affair with An-ping's younger sister, An-ling. Devastated, Liang confronts An-ling and realises her worst fears have come true. Unable to cope, she is driven to take drastic measures. The film is named one of the top ten masterpieces of Taiwan Cinema (1895-1995) by Variety.
