CHEN Mei-Li, a middle-class suburban girl from a materialistic, dysfunctional family, and LING Mei-Li, a shy, introverted working-class girl raised by her father and grandmother, lead parallel lives. LING, heartbroken after dropping out of college, takes a job at a local cinema, where she meets CHEN at the ticket booth. Their shared name sparks a connection, and a close friendship gradually blossoms, offering both girls solace in their otherwise troubled lives. Rene LIU and Jing TSENG jointly won Best Actress at the Tokyo International Film Festival for their standout roles in this film.
